Thaumatrope Illusion Necklace

A Thaumatrope is a two sided disk, usually made of paper, with one part of an image on one side, the other on the reverse. When spun, the two images combine. They were very popular in the Victorian era. If you've seen the Tim Burton film 'Sleepy Hollow', Johnny Depp's character Ichabod Crane has one.

Drawing on this concept, the images here have been encased under thick plastic, framed in gilt and attached to a silver plated chain.

It works just like a regular Thaumatrope; spin the pendant and the bird appears inside the cage! Stop the spinning and you will see the bird has cleverly escaped...

Hanging next to the clasp is a tiny silver plate and glass Mymble's Daughter crow charm.

This necklace is designed to be long so you can create the illusion whilst you're wearing it. An excellent distraction in a boring class or office!

Whilst this necklace is waterproof to a certain extent, please do not wear it in the shower, expose it to condensation or submerge it in water!

Please note that the materials used to make the pendant are vintage stock and as such you may find some slight imperfections in the surface of the plastic and some unevenness to the metal frame.

This piece is quite light weight and delicate. Please take care whilst wearing it.
